A logo for a group of locality schools on the Sussex coast. The purpose was to provide news and information for parents, carers and staff working with special educational needs and disabilities.
The group wanted a conch shell and needed to represent a collaboration of local schools, SEN staff and parents who are creating an information hub supporting families, children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities.
The processes I followed were brainstorming and mind mapping, the two main ideas I kept coming back to were:
1. Shell – Seaside – Listening – Communication
2. Hub – Families – Schools – Collaboration – Support – Hug – Safe – Together
After pages of doodling I designed the logo as hands holding a shell. The hands in a heart shape to signify that they are open and care for this object and the shell to indicate fragility. A conch shell also has a spiral formation inside which is symbolic of infinity. The shell is like the human journey of life so seemed a fitting choice for this logo.
